Recharge in the Enchanted Forest

Nordic Walking among ancient laurel trees.

The Enchanted Forest is one of my favourite spots for walking or simply to be. It is a place of rare beauty in Madeira, off the tourist beaten track in the middle of the Laurissilva Forest on the Western plateau. You will find an ideal place for taking a forest bath, filling up with energy, nordic walking or just simply enjoying nature. It is the home of ancient laurel trees and magnificent species of the Laurissilva forest, some of them being over 500 years old. You will also come across a small crater lake filled up with rainwater, giving the area an enchanted look. 

You can choose the difficulty of your walk, it can be an easy and affordable one or a moderate, longer one with scenic views. Should you wish to push yourself more, you can sign up for a demanding full-day hike combined with a levada walk. This is the perfect location to try nordic walking for the first time as well.
